Flyleaf toywagen project

This engine swap was in a VW bus.  We used a 5 valve Toyota 4 cylinder pullout engine from Japan.  the combination was a good match, with plenty of power, reliability, & longevity.

A big challenge was converting the van from air cooled to water cooled.  We had to louvre the engine compartment door, build radiator brackets and find a fan that could keep it all cool.

This setup has individual throttle bodies  &  more power than the vw vans ever had. Using a Kenedy adapter & clutch, a radiator from a Jeep Cherokee, & quite a bit of fabrication.

The aluminum fuel tank was built from scratch to utilize available space and provide a decent volume of fuel.

Thanks to James Tanner (a former employee) for the many hours of fab work to complete this truck.
