Superchargers, Nitrous, Race Fuels
Superchargers-The Car Shop has expierience with several types of superchargers; turbochargers, roots, centrifugal, and centrifugal blow though setups. Depending on boost levels, engines can have 50-60% gains in street trim on pump gas, even more with the right supercharger. This can be done reliably and even used on a daily basis! Sometimes even gaining gas mileage!
Nitrous- The easiest power adder, nitrous will make any engine more powerful at the touch of a button. From 50-300 additional horsepower can be achieved with the right setup, & tuning, given the engine is capable of handling the extra power. Nitrous has gotten a bad rap in the past, but mostly because people get greedy with nitrous because its so easy to add more, they dont know when to stop, or the engine ran lean, or the timing was off, the list goes on. If all is matched & tuned correctly, nitrous can be used safely, reliably, & is also consistant.
Race Fuels- High octane race fuels are for high boost levels, high compression, or as a power adder for race engines in some applications. For boost levels exceeding 12 psi in most cases, or 10.5 -1 compression ratio, race fuels may be needed. In most cases, race fuel will not add power by itself, unless timing, tuning, or compression ratio is changed. Methanol or e85 blend can usually add power if the tune is modified to match it. In some race only engines power can be had using oxygen laden fuel (oxygenated), or nitromethane. Both types of fuel are tricky to tune and should be used with care as results from the wrong combination could be costly or deadly.
